Dr. Keri Thorn

Even as a small child, I dreamed of the day I would be a doctor. I carefully planned my education and training in order to help me reach this goal. My undergraduate degree was a B.S. in Biology which I obtained at Pacific Union College in California. Between college and medical school, I spent one year conducting research in the Neonatology Department at Loma Linda University in California. After this, I was accepted into the medical program at Loma Linda University and earned my Medical Degree. I went on to specialize in Emergency Medicine at West Virginia University in Morgantown, WV., where I worked for 5 years before moving to Whitefish, MT. I received my training in Functional Medicine through the Institute for Functional Medicine.

The past 20 years of my practice as an Emergency physician were spent with frequent travel, fluctuating shifts and high-stress situations. It took a long time for me to realize how detrimental my way of living was to my health. When I became ill, my training in conventional medicine did not lead me to effective treatment and I began to search for what was missing.

Thankfully, I found a different way to look at the causes and treatment of illness. This different way of thinking made sense of my inability to sleep through the night, my body’s rejection of many foods, and my inability to control my constant stress. This different way was a lifestyle type of medicine that took into account all the facets of my life and how they contributed to my illness. I found Functional Medicine and I started to heal.

I am not leaving behind the medical training I had. Rather, I am building on that knowledge and combining it with the latest tested and proven research, providing a different kind of medical program. A Functional Medicine program that takes into account that each person has a unique story that leads to their illness, and once identified, can lead back to wellness.

How we live each day impacts our health and wellness. Whether it be the friends we socialize with, the food we eat, the house and neighborhood we live in, our daily movement, our sleep habits, or our mindset. All of this and more is immensely important to our health and vitality.

I would like to help you unwind your life experiences and lead you to your optimal wellness. I will provide a medical program that will be as natural as possible, utilizing evidence-based supplements and botanicals while recognizing that sometimes medications are needed; encouraging nutrient-dense foods that heal, teaching you stress-management techniques, and providing instruction on movement and sleep.
